The Gravimetry
The gravimetry allows measuring the gravity on the different places of earth surface. The precise knowledge of gravitational field is essential for:
- Development of a cartographic reference system.
- Establishment of the gravimetric maps for the geology and geophysical needs.
- The studies of seismic movement.
It is also indispensable to the geoid knowledge. It is precisely this aspect that INCT draws gravimetric applications. The national gravimetric network is constituted by the establishment of the fundamental points and second order points, which are realised by the INCT and the CRAAG under their prerogatives in accordance with the decree 90-110 of April 1990.
Two gravimetric network were established:
- The absolute network is under the CRAAG responsibility as stipulated in the decree cited above, which will be attached the measured points. This network will soon be realized and joined to a fundamental point of global gravitational network.
- The network of second order, where the observations are taken continuously.
