Archiving center
The National Institute of Cartography and Remote Sensing is the main producer of geographic data, the manager of databases and others geographic information systems.
Given their strategic character, the operations of conservation, duplication and regeneration of numeric data forced the INCT the establishment of rigorous procedure including the creation of a center for the Documentation and Conservation of the Geographic Information (CDCGI), which was responsible for ensuring the main tacks. For this purpose, procedures and working method have been implemented to ensure the following:
- Conservation, development and management of the National Geographic documentation in the field of basic equipment (geodesy, gravimetry and leveling), mapping and aerial photography.
- The establishment of a technical background document, scientific and regulatory areas relating to geographical science.
- Publishing of magazines and periodicals specialized in the areas of Geographic Sciences including the bulletin of Geographic Sciences (ISSN 1112-3745).
- The establishment and conservation of documentation related to national borders.
